This customer was so open-minded..
Originally he hired me to install two base cabinets, make him some floating shelves, wood countertops and an entry mudroom all painted black. As we talked through what he was really looking for (a focal point that was still dark). I prepared some samples of paint, but I also prepared samples of a finish called wood dye. I explained to him that wood dye is what is typically used on fine musical instruments, furniture and the like due to it’s nature of highlighting, not muting, the wood’s natural character. Many species of natural and dyed woods once finished have an iridescence that is truly stunning. Happily this customer chose to go with the ebony black dye. He was very happy with the results!
